Welcome To Brighton Gastroenterology

Brighton Gastroenterology is a group of specialist doctors working in the field of Gastrointestinal Disease and provides a consultative service as well as special investigative procedures by appointment.

History

Brighton Gastroenterology was founded by Dr. Jeremy Ryan in 1992. Dr. Keith Noack joined the practice in 1996, and Dr. Jacinta Tobin (specialising in paediatric gastroenterology and nutrition) joined in 1999. Dr Miles Sparrow has recently joined the practice in 2006.

Our Services

Brighton Gastroenterology provides a full endoscopic service in gastroscopy, colonoscopy and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and also has access to capsule endoscopy (pillcam).

Endoscopy refers to the passing of flexible plastic endoscpoes through the mouth ("Gastroscopy") or anus ("Colonoscopy") to view, take samples (Biopsies) and treat the accessible parts of the gut. ERCP involves passage of a flexible endoscope through the mouth into the bile ducts that drain the liver.

These instruments are sophisticated and contain certain optical fibres or electronic wires enabling the doctor to see the interior of the body while the patient is sedated. In this way, ulcers, polyps (growths) or cancers can be diagnosed, as well as a variety of other digestive ailments.

Further details or descriptions of the procedures and the preparation required can be found on the information page, or otherwise please contact your own doctor or consult with us.
